Yasmine El Rashidi
Biography
Yasmine El Rashidi (b.1977, Egypt) is a Cairo-based writer. She is a frequent contributor to the New York Review of Books, a contributing editor to the arts and culture quarterly Bidoun, and the author of The Battle for Egypt (Random House/NYRB 2011). Her writing has also appeared in publications including the London Review of Books, Aperture, The Guardian, Monocle, Le Monde Diplomatique, Index on Censorship, Ms., and the Arabic literary journal Weghat Nazar. She was formerly a writer-in-residence at Townhouse Gallery and will be a 2012-13 fellow at Princeton’s Lewis Center for the Arts.
