ONLINE: Full Burn Screening with Q&A
This special live streaming of Full Burn (20 min., 2014) by Mariah Garnett is followed by a conversation between the artist and Hammer chief curator Connie Butler.
Part of the Hammer Contemporary Collection and previously presented in Made in L.A. 2014, Full Burn features US war veterans who have all continued to test the limits of their physical abilities as civilians. The work serves as a meditation on masculine duty and the emotional stakes of transcending fear.
Technical note: The artist recommends viewers use studio headphones or external speakers with 8-inch drivers. The first sequence of Full Burn includes low frequencies that may not be audible using computer speakers or earbuds.
