Sculpture in the shape of three huddled figured, covered in bees
Part of the series Bee Week

LIVE: Bee Cam

Watch live as a colony of bees works to realize Garnett Puett's sculpture Untitled (Paradoxical Garden Downstream) (2024). In order to initiate this work, Puett conceived a figurative armature for the sculpture, coated it in thick layers of beeswax using a rotating table of his own design, and enclosed it in a habitat for bees. Puett then introduced a locally-sourced queen along with her hive, hundreds of drone and worker bees, who made the work their home. Over the course of the exhibition, the colony will gather pollen to sustain their queen while elaborating the structure with honeycomb.

Note: While the video will remain live 24 hours a day, the lights will be off when the museum is closed, all day Monday, between 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. on Friday, and between 6 p.m. and 11 a.m. every other day.
