Family Flicks: Soul

Recommend for ages 8+

Two-time Oscar winner Soul introduces Joe (voiced by Jamie Foxx), a middle school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from New York City to a land of unfulfilled souls. Through this musical journey, Joe tries to persuade them of the value of the human experience—and learns that it is each moment lived, no matter how small, that gives all time on Earth meaning.

2020, dir: Pete Docter, Kemp Powers. DCP, color, 101 min.

The Family Flicks Film Series is copresented by the UCLA Film & Television Archive. Matinee screenings for families and film buffs, featuring new and classic films from around the world.
