Screenings

Flux, Spring 2025

The Flux Screening Series brings the creative community together for a night of outstanding short films and music videos, featuring wildly inventive filmmaker presentations and performances.

This season offers fresh global perspectives, including the U.S. premiere of Synthetic Bodies by Lucas Ortiz Estefanell, exploring technology’s impact on romance. Canadian filmmaker Adrian Villagomez’s Catch Me music video—perhaps influenced by today’s political climate—tackles cult dynamics, continuing his long-running collaboration with electronic artist Apashe. Meanwhile, director Tanner K Williams channels the trauma of growing up in an ultra-orthodox Mormon home for Madge’s Shiversucker video.

Other highlights include A℞IA, where director (or should we say doctor?) Jacki Moonves prescribes 500mg of opera—no spoilers, let the film speak for itself. Doechii, alongside directors James Mackel and Carlos Acosta, mines classic sitcoms for Denial is a River, a standout from her Grammy-winning Alligator Bites Never Heal.

Flux fans will recognize director Lope Serrano (creator of videos for Tame Impala, Dua Lipa, among many others). He is co-founder of the Spanish collective CANADA. Tonight, he presents The Cause of the Accident that Started the Fire, featuring an all-star Spanish cast.

The eclectic film lineup spans comedy, dance, drama, animation, and new music videos for Disclosure, SAINt JHN, Ezra Collective, and more.

Special in-person guests include Adrian Villagomez, Carlos Acosta, Jacki Moonves, James Mackel, Lope Serrano, and Tanner K Williams. A courtyard after-party follows with special guest DJ Sonrisita.
